disguised in perham - neon sculpture - item #104 - (from: www.easyterrorism.biz) ongoing project | ®2001>2004 |
this neon icon was originally produced for a show held in amsterdam ("la nuit americain" 2003) curated by moniek voulon in arti et amicitiae. this was one of a series of shows that meant to raise questions on the change of world politics after the sept 11th allegedly terroristic attacks. based on the idea that capitalism and contemporary culture are able to turn any possible object(fictive or real that is) even the most cruelly emotional ones, into a marketable item, i proposed myself to launch a website that would sell gadgetery and funny objects (a lamp such as this one) with terroristic iconography. it was my intention to design these objects with a fashionable outlook so that they would appeal to a large public and would in turn make a point on the absurdity of corporations and multinationals that are driven only by the will of making profits and building financial power. the online shop would sell to customers placing real orders. - the few pictures following this page show a performance set up to explain how the delivery of the ordered items would reach people's home. >>> please see next page...
